Ideal: An Experienced Opto-Electronic Test Engineer who also likes to write software
Hands-on experience with optical communication system product development such as coherent optics transceivers
Experience in developing test and measurement solutions for electrical and optical components and subsystems
Hands on experience with optical and electrical test and measurement equipment including programmable optical power meters, attenuators, and switches, optical spectrum analyzers, digital multi-meters and oscilloscopes
Key participant in the Software and hardware development of equipment used to test opto-electronic devices used in a 4.8 TBit Photonics Integrated Circuit (PIC) based network solution
Experience with digital and mixed signal IC testing is a plus
Define and configure required test instrumentation and hardware
Partner with engineering staff to define and implement detailed testability requirements
Candidate should have a good understanding of electronics, be able to read electrical schematics and comprehend technical documents.
Provide fault isolation guidance based on investigation of failures
Communication – Need to be able to interface with all levels of people from technicians to Vice Presidents in a professional manner
Need to be proactive and self-motivating. Balancing production needs with continuous improvement and development initiatives
Be able to work in a collaborative, team environment
Understand basic Statistics. Experienced with or can learn Gauge R&R and SPC (Statistical Process Control) is a plus, not necessary
Microsoft Products (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.)
Programming experience in OO languages is required. Infinera is using VB.NET software to control custom and commercial test and measurement equipment using USB, GPIB, TCP/IP, and SPI interfaces. Infinera’s hardware communicates using COM and TCP/IP with embedded software / firmware.
Candidate does not need to be a Software Architect but an engineer that can author custom algorithms / sequences by building on the existing infrastructure / hardware
Provide software debug information for skilled technicians for fault isolation of complex optical, electrical, and communication problems
Participate in improving our shared code repository

Education / Experience
BS in science or engineering with 5+ year experience required, MS/PhD desired (Physics, Optics, Electrical Eng, Comp Sci)
