Summary/Objective: This position will engage with OEMs to develop design solutions and develop relationships on the commodity side.
The Market Development Manager will stay abreast on new technology trends, make new product and market recommendations, and follow up throughout the introduction and critical early states of product sales development.
The Commercial Account Manager will engage with the Commercial/Commodity teams at various customers and develop relationships, advise corporate on contracts, pricing, and customer expectations.
This position will challenge candidates develop design solutions and commercial business solutions. The ideal split would be 50/50 between the roles.
The candidate will be centrally located to the region, in order to leverage existing business relationships with customers in the Silicon Valley region.
Essential Functions/ Responsibilities:
Cultivate new and current customers in assigned territory to identify new opportunities using resources such as Salesforce.com.
Identify and develop new market and client opportunities.
Oversee inquiries, technical support and overall responsiveness of Samtec for new products, ASP, i.e.
Assist in sales channel education of new products and technical selling features.
Develop and execute strategic business plans with new and existing customers. Establish & maintain strong relationships with key decision makers.
Coordinate with internal teams to meet customer expectations and develop strategies to do so.
Evaluate and confirm vendor status, scorecard metrics, and drive opportunities to elevate status. Develop and execute a recovery plan if needed.
There will be interactions with distributors and distribution channels.
2+ Years’ Experience working with products lines and engaging with customer design engineers
2+ Years’ Experience in an Account Management/Business Development role.
2+ Years’ Experience in the Electronic Component Supply business.
Excellent presentation and communication skills with the ability to effectively articulate information to the target audience.
Good listener; prevents misunderstandings and resolves problems.
Strong consultative and strategic negotiation selling capabilities – proven experience developing partnerships with clients.
Project management experience, including management of overall components from start to finish – planning, execution and evaluation.
Well-balanced combination of strong analytical skills and mechanical aptitude.
Direct experience within large organizations as well as analysis and implementation of b2b programs and design solutions
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field from an accredited institution preferred
Engineering education or technical training preferred
