Maxim’s Cloud and Data Center Business Unit is developing next generation optical communication ICs and is looking for highly motivated Principal level RF Millimeter Wave analog IC design engineers to join our team. As a key member of a growing dynamic IC Design team, the candidate will architect, design and productize complex and high performance millimeter-wave circuits for 400Gb/s and above data center connectivity ICs.The ideal candidate should have design experience in high speed optical data communication ICs and a solid understanding of fiber optics communication. We will also consider high speed IC circuit design engineers with expertise in Millimeter Wave wireless communication or high speed Serdes electrical interconnects.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Work with product definition and business management to understand customer requirements and help define product specifications
Ownership of IC development (specifications and schedule) from start of design to production release.
Develop creative architectural and transistor level solutions for optical platforms.
Direct layout and lab characterization engineers.
Initial lab verification and debug.
Support production test development.
Ongoing customer support as needed.
MS degree and 10 years of experience. PhD preferred.
Expertise in RF/Millimeter-wave CMOS/SiGe-BiCMOS IC design. Wireline and Optical Communication circuits including transmit and receive.
Experience with SiGe BiCMOS technology a plus
High-frequency/mm-wave layout experience
Strong active and passive semiconductor device understanding
Ability to design custom inductors, T-coils and transmission line elements
Design, simulation and measurement (at wafer-level) of 25GHz+broadband ICs including but not limited to: Linear amplifiers/drivers, Transimpedance amplifiers, AGC circuits, Equalizers, SERDES
Experience designing one or more of the following blocks with the requirement of PAM4 signaling at greater or equal to 25GBd: TIA, LNA, LA, CTLE, FFE, DFE, CDR, CML Driver, Optical Drivers.
Behavioral level modeling experience with Matlab, VerilogA or Verilog.
Hands on experience with high frequency lab characterization equipment.
Clear written and verbal communication skills.
