Maxim Integrated is looking for a Senior MTS, Product Engineering, in the field of lab measurement for High Frequency / Optical Communication products. The candidate will play a critical role in the new product development, designing device evaluation hardware, conducting datasheet related measurements, performing data analysis and presenting the results.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Creation of product-specific bench test plans and characterization reports.
Develop test methodology and automation solutions for the characterization of new products using high-performance bench test equipment.
Design of bench hardware to support data gathering for complex integrated circuits using a variety of tools to facilitate high-speed data transmission at rates in excess of 25 Gbps.
Use a variety of tools to capture schematics, design high-speed PCB’s with the ability to consider and simulate the associated signal integrity issues.
Definition, integration, and implementation of product specific electrical and/or characterization test cells – incorporating bench test equipment, PCB hardware, software and fixturing.
Analyze test data gathered during characterization using statistical methods to determine product datasheet limits.
Minimum Qualifications :
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering.
Strong fundamentals of transmission lines, EM, and microwave theory.
5 years or more of experience in performing laboratory-based high-speed semiconductor testing or equipment testing in the Wireless/Optical Communications industry. Experience with NRZ, PAM4 or coherent modulation preferable.
Understanding and experience of high-speed printed circuit board (PCB) design, coupled with the ability to use PCB design tools to deliver complete hardware solutions.
Experience of Signal Integrity issues associated with high-speed data transfer and the ability to design solutions that overcome these issues.
Experience of using measurement equipment to perform key parametric measurements using equipment such as Communication Analyzers, Bit Error Rate Testers, Optical Laser Sources/Attenuators, VNA, TDR, and High-Speed real-time scopes.
Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills.
Self-motivated, excellent attention to detail, strong problem solving and presentation skills.
Able to work in and foster a teamwork environment, with a demonstrated ability to share the technical knowledge and mentor others.
Preferred Qualifications :
The high-speed test of Optical / RF integrated circuits in a laboratory environment.
Bench automation software experience.
Data communication hardware design / debugging or RF hardware design / debug experience.
Hands-on experience with setting up test benches and running HF component and system-level characterization.
Use of planar and or 3D field solvers.
Data analysis skills.
Desire to pursue training to enhance skills.
