The team you'll be part of

Nokia Bell Labs is the world-renowned research arm of Nokia, having invented many of the foundational technologies that underpin information and communications networks and all digital devices and systems. This research has produced nine Nobel Prizes, five Turing Awards and numerous other awards.

You will be joining the Silicon Photonics department of Nokia Bell Labs, a team of brilliant and energetic researchers making waves in key integrated photonics areas such as integrated lasers and comb sources, novel high-speed modulators, and quantum integrated photonics among others. You will also interact and learn from world-class experts in many other fields of optics, computing, and networking.

What you will learn and contribute to

• Focus on solving important problems and addressing research questions that will impact society.
• Drive your own research lines, as well as contribute to large team efforts on long-term research challenges.
• Mentor PhD and other research students through our highly regarded internship programs.
• Be expected to deliver high-quality research results in integrated photonics.
• Be encouraged to understand and contribute to realize Nokia’s long-term technology vision.

Your skills and experience 

 You have:

• A PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
• Demonstrable design and/or experimental skills in one or more areas of integrated photonics including, but not limited to, silicon photonic devices, integrated laser sources, high-speed modulators, nonlinear and quantum devices.
• A team-player mentality as well as the ambition to drive your own research lines.

It would be nice if you also had:

• An excellent track-record of research in integrated photonics (publications, patents, etc.)
• General knowledge of the silicon photonics field.
• Experience supervising and working with research students.
• Good communication skills.
