Job Description
The successful candidate will lead the effort on the design and development of Infinera’s next generation tunable lasers and PIC integration platform. The candidate will work within the PIC design and engineering team and lead a group of strong individual contributors in simulation, data analysis and product development from reliable design concepts, performance verification and optimization and transfer to manufacturing. The broad job responsibilities include hands-on work in designing the next generation of tunable laser devices, implementing the processes through the fab, and testing the resulting circuits to verify performance. The person should be able to develop and manage risk assessments and be able to develop and manage project budgets and schedules.
Responsibilities
Lead a team of strong individual designers on the design and development of high performance, narrow-linewidth tunable lasers and PIC integration platform
Enhance and rigorously execute design methodologies and processes
Lead interactions within internal teams on design and qualification efforts
Develop and actively manage project budgets, requirements, schedules, and risk profiles
Provide inputs into product road maps

Requirements
Ph.D in Electrical Engineering, Photonics or a related discipline with emphasis in optical communications and high speed optical components.
Significant successful industrial experience in developing high performance lasers, including simulation, design, hands-on or oversight of fab and epi process development and Telcordia qualification for revenue-generating product
InP opto-electronic fabrication process development hands-on experience and material characterization and epitaxy knowledge
Experience in optical and electronic modeling and simulation software to design electro-optical devices, lithographic mask specifications, and pattern generation is required.
Ability to work with a large body of data and the necessary statistical analysis tools, and the ability to present the data and ideas to a diverse audience.
The Job will require frequent collaborative interaction with fab, epitaxy, test and reliability engineering, packaging, product engineering, and system engineering groups.
