The Optical Integrated Component Group is looking for an individual to engage in the product development of coherent optical modules for high-bandwidth data communications systems. The individual will work with component design, system, and optical architecture engineering teams and engage in high speed PIC characterization, design validation, and process evaluation for next generation devices in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Lead wide bandwidth PIC element characterization, heavily engage in next generations PIC test development
Design of test plans and algorithms and execution of performance validation tests
Key role in next generation Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC) development team. Work with PIC design, fab process, SiGe ASIC, and module design teams to ensure new products quality release
Knowledge / Skills /Abilities
We are looking for an individual with a strong background in optoelectronic device high-speed characterization:
Solid fundamental understanding of active and passive optical devices, particularly waveguide devices
Fundamental understanding of high-speed optoelectronic device characteristics with hands on skills and experience of optoelectronic device RF testing
Programming experience in Matlab, C, C++, Python, VB.net or similar for automation of instrument control and data acquisition
Knowledge or experience of optical coherent transmission system is a plus
Ability to build, maintain and troubleshoot complex test hardware and software in a cross-functional environment
Attention to detail and willingness to produce detailed documentation
Ability to work well in cross-functional development teams, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills
Education / Experience
BS +5 years experience or MS +3 years experience in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Applied Physics, or equivalent
Minimum of 2 years of applicable industrial experience in optical communications, photonics, high speed electronics or systems.
